Sticky Nutella and Caramel Buns



Do you love sticky buns? how about Nutella? or Salty Caramel?
Well I love all of the above and decided to put them all in one dish. This isn't one of those trendy healthy dishes. This is just a tray full of indulgent flavours packed with calories :D
I'm really happy how these turned out <3 Even the dog wanted a taste (which she couldn't have)


You will need:
5 dl Milk
50g Yeast (or 2 sachets dry yeast)
2 dlSugar
2 tsp Cardamom
2 tsp Salt
1 egg
150g butter (melted and added last)
15dl Flour

Filling:
Brown Sugar
1 can Condensed milk with a hint of salt (cooked to a caramel)
1 jar Nutella
Pecans

1) Prepare the condensed milk in advance since this will take some time to cook into a caramel.
Place the whole can into boiling water (unopened). Let the can simmer in the water for 3-4hrs.
When you open the can the white condensed milk will have turned into thick sticky brown caramel.
I added a bit of flake salt to my caramel.



2) Preheat the oven to 225°
3) Heat the milk to about 42°C (a bit warmer than your hand)
4) crumble the yeast and mix in the milk until dissolved.
5) Add the sugar and cardamom
6) Mix in the flour.
7) Knead the dough properly.
8) Add the melted butter which has cooled down a bit. It will look like a huge amount of butter but by kneading properly the butter will eventually incorporate into the dough.
9) Let the dough rest under a kitchen cloth for  half an hour atleast, until doubled in size.
10) Roll the dough flat using a rolling pin.
11) Spread the nutella on and add a sprinkle of brown sugar.
12) Roll into a roll and cut the roll into pieces approximately 5-7cm long.
13) Place the buns into an oven tray upwards like small towers revealing the rolled in nutella.
14) Sprinkle with a handful of crushed pecans.
15) Bake in the oven



Once done i poured on some of the caramel and tried to get it into every little crack and layer of the rolls. I'm not sure how they would've turned out if I would've added the caramel already inside the rolls before baking them with the Nutella. I just think they might have gone a bit more soggy and therefore I added this last.
